- Does your business want to take more responsibility for the logistics chain and in this way achieve cost savings?
This may mean that you, for example, take responsibility for the collection and shipping of your goods, and do not leave it to the seller to handle the transport. This puts you in control of your goods and the transport costs.
- Can your business consolidate its purchases from several suppliers, or consolidate deliveries to different customers, in order to achieve lower total transport costs?
This means that you have fewer, but larger deliveries, which provides good opportunities to reduce transport costs.
- Does your business have the time and resources required to take greater ownership of logistics?
Taking greater ownership and responsibility for your own logistics requires separate resources or a dedicated logistics partner to handle this.
If you answer yes to one or more of the questions – what then?
If you answer yes to one or more of these questions, your business should consider greater ownership of logistics.
Put simply, your business should consider managing and handling your own critical deliveries with a long delivery time or high importance. For other goods and shipments, it may be beneficial to hand over the transport responsibility to the seller. For some businesses, it may be appropriate to choose a shared solution – different Incoterms for different goods.
