Calculation of freight
Our tariffs only apply to freight that is payable in Norway.
Obstacles to delivery
If for various reasons the recipient does not collect the goods from the collection destination, the sender will be liable for costs related to warehouse rental, return freight, etc.
Returning/resending
If the Customer would like the item returned or forwarded to another destination, the Customer will be charged for new freight and expenses.
Packaging/Labelling Requirements
The Customer is responsible for ensuring that goods are properly packaged so that they withstand being transported, handled/reloaded and loaded with other goods. Adequate labelling of lifting points, balancing points, "this side up", etc.
International Rail & Road
Cubic metres
1 m3 is converted to 333 kg.
For all shipments over 1000 kg, the weight is rounded up to the nearest 100 kg.
Load metre
If the shape or content of the item or particular requirements from the sender mean that stowage/groupage is not possible, the following calculations can be used:
Length × breadth: 2.4 (For example, a pallet measuring 1.20 × 0.80: 2.4 is the breadth of the load). For shipments that require extra security in the form of a SpanSet, chains, or similar, and that also require more floor space than the actual parcel, the load metre will be calculated according to the actual
floor space.
The same applies to goods the shape/dimension of which impair optimal use of the truck, consisting of a different standardised load to EUR pallets, ISO containers, etc.

1 load metre= 1850 kg
1 load metre = 2000 kg in the Nordic countries
1 pallet space (EUR pallet ) = 0.4 load metre (1 EUR pallet = 1.2x0.8x2.4)
An area is calculated as 1 pallet space when the pallet is over 1.2 metres high or when it is practically impossible to put anything else on top of it. The transporter reserves the right to assess whether the pallet can tolerate having something on top of it.
Specific weights
Bicycles, all types: 60 kg per bicycle
Passenger car tyres: the actual weight is increased by 50%
Used car engines: the actual weight is increased by 100%
(Used car engines must be placed in a sealed box, drained of oil and have the bottom plug removed.)
Snowmobiles, motor sledges, mopeds and motorcycles: The actual weight is increased by 300%.
Calculation of freight
Freight is calculated separately for each shipment and for the particular distance. A shipment is understood as goods that are specified with a consignment note or shipment number for forwarding from a sender to a recipient. A shipment can be made up of one or more parcels. A third party is also allowed to pay freight and expenses subject to agreement. If it is not clearly stated on the consignment note/electronically-transferred information who will pay freight and expenses, then the sender must always pay. The maximum calculated freight amount in a weight range is the minimum calculated freight amount in the next weight range.
Freight is always calculated according to the calculation method that gives the highest chargeable weight. The sender is responsible for ensuring that dimensions/weights are correct. Deviations should be corrected by the freight payer when invoicing.
The sender must always pay for freight for the following recipients
Private customers and businesses with unattended recipient addresses between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, plants, building sites, conferences, trade fairs and ships.
Delivery with on-time guarantee
Delivery with on-time guarantee only applies to a written agreement between the parties. Reduced deliveries can be expected during public holidays, Christmas, Easter and summer holidays. Regarding delivery to customers, where delivery is restricted to the hours between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, the transit time does not apply either.
Obstacles to delivery
If the recipient refuses delivery of the goods, or if delivery is prevented in any way, the carrier will obtain instructions for further action from the client. If instructions for further action are not received within seven days from the issue date, the shipment will automatically be returned at the client's own expense and risk.
Returning/resending
If the Customer would like the item returned or forwarded to another delivery location, a resending fee will be calculated. This should only be done by written order from the owner of the goods.
EUR pallets
Pallets will not be exchanged in cross-border traffic.
Dangerous goods
Dangerous goods (corrosive, toxic, explosive, flammable and hazardous substances) are accepted for transport under special conditions and in compliance with IMDG and/or ADR regulations.
When it has been agreed that dangerous goods are to be part of the order, both parties must fulfil their obligations according to current ADR regulations.
When transporting dangerous goods, the sender is responsible for ensuring that
a) Only permitted good are transported and delivered
b) The goods are correctly packed, classified and labelled
c) Transport documents contain the required information for the existing version of the ADR.
The client shall hold the carrier harmless for loss and damages that are caused due to responsibilities not being fulfilled. The client will be charged for any additional costs as well as delays and return of goods due to responsibilities not being fulfilled. Where the carrier has liability towards public authorities or third parties due to circumstances that can be traced back to the client, the carrier may claim recourse from the client.
The carrier is obliged to refuse goods if
a) It is obvious that the goods are not packed in accordance with ADR
b) The packaging has visible damage that may affect safety during transport
c) The goods have not been labelled in accordance with regulations
d) Required transport documents are missing.
If dangerous goods have been loaded and the carrier has not been made aware of this, the goods can be unloaded without the carrier being liable for compensation. The carrier may, at the client’s expense and risk, destroy or neutralise the goods if there is reason to believe that the danger cannot be averted by less intrusive measures. Bring Cargo has its own safety consultant who can answer questions about regular forwarding, special goods and when/if the shipment can be received.
Shipments in dangerous goods classes 1 (explosives) and 7 (radioactive substances) are not normally accepted by Bring Cargo without an agreement. There is a 25% surcharge on ordinary freight for dangerous goods. For dangerous goods in classes 1 and 7, a 100% freight surcharge will be applied.
Temperature-controlled goods
During the winter months, frost-proof transport is provided between most destinations. Please contact the nearest Bring Cargo office and ask about our operating arrangements.
Unpackaged goods
Are not accepted for transport without an agreement. There is a 25% surcharge on ordinary freight for special goods.
Household removal goods
Are only accepted for transport by agreement. Customers can rent entire containers by road/rail for use when moving. Bring Cargo does not accept any type of insurance due to damage/shortfall. This is because the company's liability insurance does not cover moving, and Bring Cargo does not in any other way cover such damage/shortfall. The Customer must request insurance from the insurance company or alternatively via Bring Cargo. The Customer must accept the terms and conditions in a separate form before taking up the container. Freight and other costs must always be paid in advance.
Currency and fuel surcharges
Currency and fuel surcharges will be in addition to the calculated freight amount. The surcharge will vary and will be affected by changes in the international currency and fuel markets. Information about the level of different surcharges can be found here.
Sea freight
Reservations are made according to available equipment and space at the time of shipping. Goods that are not loaded in a standard sea container are regarded as special goods. Collecting/delivering goods; it is assumed that conditions are such that collection/delivery can be performed using ordinary distribution materials. In case of a particularly difficult collection/delivery or when the use of a crane or other special equipment is required, the service is provided according to the price, time and location agreed in advance.
Air freight
We reserve the right to ensure that the type of plane that is used to the chosen destination is able to load the goods. The airlines operate with maximum weights and dimensions per parcel for the different types of planes. Information about loadability will be provided on request to one of our air freight departments.
Land transport (Part-loads)
Part-loads are normally mailing items over 2500 kg where a separate price and forwarding conditions have been agreed and where the individual order is called a part-load. Forwarding part-loads should be agreed according to more-specific booking procedures than those assumed to be used for individual mailing items. A separate scale has been prepared for part-loads that follows the same principles as the scale for groupage.
Part-loads should normally be collected and delivered with the same material and at ramp level. It is assumed that the conditions at the sender’s and recipient's premises facilitate this. If extra loading/unloading equipment must be requested, or the Customer requires items unloaded at our terminal and delivered, this is done at the Customer’s expense and risk.
Part-loads and full loads are handled in accordance with the requirements imposed on us by customers, the authorities and other factors that affect how goods will be sent. Therefore, it is a precondition that transit times, collection and delivery times and other conditions relating to transport are agreed in advance with the local Bring Cargo department. In this way, Bring Cargo can help to ensure that our partners’ customers are satisfied.
Special transport
Goods that exceed the following weight/external dimensions are classified as special goods:
- The parcel weighs more than 1000 kg, or
- The long side of the parcel is 2.4 m or longer
- The parcel has two sides that are 2 m or longer.
Other
Items to private customers or unattended daytime addresses, building sites, hospitals, schools or customers where delivery is restricted to the hours between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, will normally be unloaded at the terminal. This also applies to parcels by giro (COD). A warehouse and delivery advice surcharge will be calculated and the freight payer will be invoiced for this. It is assumed that the recipient will collect the goods within two working days of receiving the delivery advice from Bring Cargo or that delivery is agreed between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. If the item stored at the terminal for more than two working days, warehouse rental will accrue from the third day.
Liability insurance/Transport insurance
Sea freight
Maximum liability is SDR 667.00 per parcel/SDR 2.00 per kg.
Air freight
The airline’s maximum liability for lost or damaged goods is SDR 17.00/kg.
Liability insurance/Transport insurance
The forwarding agent and transporter have insured their liability according to the general conditions of the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders (NSAB 2015) and transportation law. The insurance covers the forwarding agent and transporter’s liability in accordance with the contract of carriage. Customers are recommended to take out their own transport insurance, as both the forwarding agent and the transporter are only liable for a limited amount.
Bring Cargo can provide transport insurance at the freight payer’s expense, if required.
Collection/Delivery
International Rail and Road
Collection and delivery is usually included in freight.
Three options are offered:
1. Collection on specific days and at specific times
2. Collection according to pre-booking before 11:30 a.m. (varies locally)
3. Collection on booking after 11:30 a.m. for same-day collection
(varies locally).
Booking after 11:30 a.m. (some local variations) and accepted for same-day collection entails a surcharge (see the Additional Services price table). For collection of items with a total weight of less than 100 kg, a collection charge will normally apply (see the Additional Services price table). Goods are collected/delivered at street/ramp level. It is assumed that conditions are such that collection/delivery can be performed using ordinary distribution materials.
Delivery and collection at specific times to/from businesses with addresses in shopping centres, inside shops, restaurants, kiosks etc. are carried out in accordance with an agreed time and location. In case of a particularly difficult collection/delivery, or when the use of a crane or other special equipment is required, the service is provided according to the agreed price, time and location.
Delivery/Warehouse rental
Mailing items will normally be delivered to the recipient. If the goods are delivered to private customers, the recipient will be notified. If there are any conditions attached to a delivery, the recipient will always be notified. Warehouse rental will be calculated for items that are not collected or cannot be delivered by the second day after notice has been sent to the recipient. For items that must be stored at the receiver terminal beyond the second day, warehouse rental will be charged from the third day.
Tolls
If collection/delivery has been agreed and the sender/recipient is not there and the order has been cancelled less than three hours before the agreed collection/delivery time, toll costs will be incurred.
Payment terms
In principle, freight should be paid for in cash, i.e. prior to sending or delivering the goods.
Credit
By agreement, ten days' credit and an agreed credit limit are normally given. The credit/credit limit shall be revoked for any type of payment default. For late payments, a percentage rate is calculated per year in addition to a surcharge per invoice.
Credit costs
Costs for offering credit including costs for postage and paper, checks, reminders, etc. are not included in the invoice between the sender and recipient. There is a fixed charge per issued invoice.
Invoices
All orders where credit has been extended must be paid for following receipt of the invoice and payment must be received by Bring Cargo by the due date. All objections to an invoice must be submitted in writing to Bring Cargo within ten days of receipt of the invoice. In the event of payment default, non-defaulted invoices will also be calculated as defaulted and can be collected together with defaulted invoices. Bring Cargo is entitled to offset its debt with the Customer's claims against Bring Cargo. The Customer cannot offset/withhold sums due even if there are freight, damage or shortfall claims.
International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) – Requirements for pallets and wood packaging material
The EU and Norway have introduced ISPM 15, a standard for wood pallets and wood packaging material. This means that the relevant countries will not permit the introduction of wood pallets and wood packaging material that do not meet the requirements of ISPM 15. The requirements of this standard include that debarked wood must be used. Furthermore, the wood should have undergone heat treatment at 56 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. Wood pallets and wood packaging material that meet these requirements will be stamped with a special standard mark as proof that the wood has undergone this heat treatment.
